Overview

What the migration involves

Condensed from the blog migration guide.

A Sitefinity to Payload migration is shaped by sites and domains before it is shaped by content. The source guide starts with an inventory of every brand site, production domain, content type, widget, template, ASP.NET Core Renderer setup, module, integration, and shared-content relationship. That map decides how tenants are modelled in Payload and which brands move together. Sitefinity content types and widgets become Payload collections and blocks, with tenant relationships keeping each brand's content and editorial boundary separate.

Plain content types move quickly; the effort sits in dynamic modules, forms, personalization tied to Sitefinity Insight, and the rich-text HTML to Lexical conversion. The migration script reads from Sitefinity's OData services, pages through larger sets, writes through Payload's Local API, and carries legacy IDs so imports are idempotent and relationships and redirects can be wired later. The front end is rebuilt in Next.js with domain-to-tenant routing, and every brand keeps SEO coverage through per-domain redirects and validation.

Why WAYF

Who runs the migration

We are a Payload partner agency and a top contributor to the project. When something in the platform needs attention, we have direct access to the maintainers.

We have run this kind of move at enterprise scale. We migrated Ingersoll Rand's China sites off Oracle Content Manager in five months, with zero downtime at cutover, and we built the Council of Europe Development Bank's events platform to the deadline of their 70-year anniversary.

The first conversation is a free consultation. Scope, cost, and timing are agreed before any work starts.
