Payload inside a bigger product
Payload does not have to run the whole product. It can sit inside a larger system and hold the content while something else handles the rest, a commerce engine for instance. Your apps and your internal panels all read from it.

Payload Astro Starter
The Payload Astro Starter runs Payload behind Astro. You describe what you want in plain language, and the coding agent turns it into a CMS block with the fields and the database migration to match. It builds the section in Storybook first and waits for your approval before anything reaches the database.

The content model is code
Your collections and permissions are TypeScript files in your repository. A change to the content model goes through a pull request like any other code.

One content layer for everything
The website and the mobile app read the same API. Adding a portal or an internal tool later is frontend work, and nobody has to open the content model again.

The platform stays yours
The core is open source, so you can run it on your own servers and change what it does. You will still pay for hosting, and Payload sells paid tiers on top of the free core.

We have hit the hard parts
We have built custom admin screens and locked permissions down to a single field. When a migration had to run against live data on a fixed date, we have done that too.
Sometimes Payload is not the best fit. We would rather say so on the first call.
Payload works well when
- Editing content is part of what your product does.
- You need content models and permissions built to your own rules.
- Several sites or brands have to run off one content layer.
- Your team wants to hold the code and decide where it runs.
- You have engineers in-house, or you want us to cover that side.
