01 Intro · hiretesters · QA & DevOps hiring platform

hiretesters launched its QA and DevOps hiring platform in 2021, with WAYF on branding and the MVP build.

hiretesters is a Canadian hiring platform, launched in 2021, that connects DevOps and software-testing professionals with employers worldwide. We ran the engagement end to end: initial consultancy, brand conception, design and development of a Minimum Viable Product, overseeing the launch, and strategic post-launch optimisation. The result is a platform that carved out a specific niche in recruitment — QA specialist job offers.

03 The challenge

QA specialists needed a place built around how they actually get hired. Generalist job boards weren't built for that.

hiretesters set out to build a recruitment portal aimed specifically at QA job offers, connecting software-testing professionals with opportunities that generalist platforms weren't designed to surface. We brought our own experience in tech-talent recruitment and software development to the project, working through its complexity to deliver a platform built around that one audience.

04 The scope

Fresh branding, and a complete MVP. Built to give hiretesters a foundation to grow from.

hiretesters brought us in for two things: fresh branding for the company, and a complete MVP for their website, intended to propel the business forward.

05 What we did

From wireframes hiretesters had already started, to a shipped MVP, in four phases.

  1. Product conceptualisation and wireframe enhancement.

hiretesters came to us with a set of prepared wireframes they wanted enhanced. We refined them through workshopping and stakeholder interviews, focused on simplifying the sign-up and application flow that would shape the end product.

  2. Brand design.

We kept the brand approach simple and effective, in line with industry standards and the founder's vision — a memorable, timeless identity with clear messaging that complemented the software and UX design.

  3. Finalising the UI.

We gathered feedback from stakeholders to tune the UI's final look, running interviews and gathering user-experience insight that surfaced the changes that mattered most to the application flow.

  4. Software development.

Development started with a full analysis of hiretesters' business requirements, translated into technical requirements and a technology choice that fit them. The goal throughout was a usable, efficient product: strong SEO, solid embedding support, and fast page generation.

06 The team and the stack

A six-person WAYF team, on a stack built for speed. Three developers, two designers, one product owner.

The engagement was staffed by three full-stack developers, two designers, and a product owner. The stack was TypeScript, React, and Next.js on the front end, with Strapi, Redis, and PostgreSQL underneath.

07 The result

A complete, freshly-branded MVP, launched and then improved. Consultancy through to post-launch optimisation.

Our collaboration with hiretesters spanned consultancy, brand conception, MVP design and development, and extended through launch and post-launch optimisation. The primary deliverable was a complete, freshly-branded MVP.

hiretesters and WAYF worked as one team through that process, turning early complexity into a clear, shipped product.
