Student Coin set out to make crypto approachable: a platform where anyone could design, create, and manage personal, start-up, NFT, and DeFi tokens. It was born at Kozminski University in Warsaw and became known as one of the biggest ICOs of 2021. We came in on a recommendation, and what started as building to Student Coin's design grew into shared design and engineering across web and mobile — wallets, voting, staking, a terminal, and an academy. We designed, built, and maintained their iOS and Android apps.

Student Coin wanted to bring more people into crypto, and the way in was mobile. The goal was an accessible iOS and Android app that made tokenization and the wider Student Coin platform approachable for everyday users, and then a product stable enough to keep them. We were brought in to build it, and we maintained the apps we created for as long as the platform ran.

Student Coin was founded by Wojciech Podobas, a crypto-mathematics researcher and author of two books on finance and cryptocurrency. The platform he started at Kozminski University in 2018 grew to more than 300,000 users across 500 universities and raised $9.7M in one of the largest ICOs of 2021. It completed its mission and entered token redemption in 2024.
